This dataset is derived from an aggregation of the Agricultural Parishes dataset. It was first created in 1997 by the then Scottish Office Digital Mapping Service, digitised from 1946 Ordnance Survey 1/4 inch to the mile mapping. The dataset has been revised over the years as follows:
Effective 2003-02-17:
• Revised boundaries following the closure of Stirling and Dundee offices, reducing the number of area offices from 18 to 16. Gala, Hamilton and Perth boundaries were also impacted.
Effective 2010-06-01:
• Renaming of Lairg office to Golspie.
Effective 2016-11-16:
• Revised boundaries following an improvement to the Agricultural Parish dataset.
Effective 2026-02-27:
• Renaming of Ayr office to Kilwinning. Also renamed Thainstone office to Inverurie (Thainstone) to match what is displayed in the contact list.
