Description: Agricultural Area Offices in Scotland, managed by the Rural Payments and Inspections Division (RPID), deliver frontline services for the Scottish Government. They process funding applications, conduct land/livestock inspections, manage land mapping data, and provide advice to support sustainable farming and rural businesses. Key activities include:Funding & Support: Processing payments, grants, and subsidies, including the Basic Payment Scheme, Agri-Environment Climate Scheme (AECS), and Forestry Grant Scheme.Inspections & Compliance: Inspecting livestock and land to ensure compliance with cross-compliance regulations.Land Management & Data: Managing the Land Parcel Information System (LPIS), updating agricultural maps, and handling land transfer applications.Environmental Protection: Assessing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for agricultural projects, such as improving uncultivated land.Advice & Guidance: Providing direct support to farmers and crofters regarding sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices.These boundaries represent the local areas supported by each of the area office locations.
